Fostering Sustainability and Integrity Through Collaboration At The 2019 International Food and Water Summit

Fostering sustainability and integrity through collaboration was the theme at the 2019 International Food and Water Summit hosted by Waters International Food and Water Research Centre (IFWRC) which took place on September 11 and 12 at Nanyang Technological University @One-North, Singapore.

The event which was hosted by the IFWRC and co-hosted by Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), provided a platform for interactive sessions among global experts as well as regional leaders in food and environmental markets.

 

 

Dr. Abigail Stevenson, Director at The Mars Global Food Safety Center shared a presentation: Mars perspective on Food Integrity Management and participated in an expert panel discussion with Professor Chris Elliot, founder of Institute for Global Food Security at Queen's University in Belfast, Professor Wu Yongning, Chief Scientist of China National Center of Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) and Clare Menezes, Director of Global Food Integrity for the Global Quality & Food Safety Center of Excellence at McCormick.

Dr. Stevenson of the Mars GFSC, said: “I was delighted to join my colleagues, Dr. Guangtao Zhang, Dr. Hong Peng and Dr. Yuwei Chang to share our research and present at this prestigious event.

“At a time of expanding and complex global supply chain networks, climate change, natural resource depletion and food fraud – many people in the world are facing tremendous challenges to access safe food.

“The Mars GFSC is committed to collaborating with regulators, academia and industry to help ensure the sustainability and integrity of the global food supply chain, as part of our pledge to ensure safe food for all.”

 

 

Ms Swee Lee, Yap, Director of IFWRC, added: “The IFWRC has been built to provide laboratory spaces for scientists around the world to launch exceptional research projects on food and water safety, food quality management, nutrition improvement and environmental protection.
