In August 2017, A group of Associates from the Mars GFSC visited Dejiang County, a poverty-stricken area in Eastern Guizhou province, China in June to gain an understanding of children’s living conditions. Their visits to local schools assisted them in identifying ways to help improve food safety practices. 

In August 2017 the Mars GFSC launched a year-long program designed to train food safety practitioners on how to conduct quantitative food safety risk analysis.

On June 30, 2017 Mars China received the ‘Health Leadership Award’ at the sixth China Award for Outstanding contribution in Food Safety& Public Health. This is the first time Mars China has received such an award reflecting our commitment to food safety and safety education.

From April 18 to 20, 2016, the Mars Global Food Safety Center (GFSC) in Beijing held an international science symposium themed “Uncommon Collaborations and the Future of Food Safety Science”. The event was the first symposium to be held since the center’s official opening last September.

The China Development Forum (CDF) was held in Diaoyutai Guesthouse, Beijing, from March 19 to 21, attracting a large number of world leaders, business executives and journalists from Chinese and international media. At the event, Mars showcased its Global Food Safety Center (GFSC) at a bespoke booth at the inaugural CDF 2016 Innovation Expo.
